Sound research and statistical findings are required to make the informed decisions that will move us closer to achieving our goal. While the interest and investment in the field of Jewish summer camping has grown, the collection of research has not. To close this information gap, FJC plans to conduct regional studies to examine the camping population in a given area and learn more about the preferences and attitudes of Jewish families with camp-aged children.
Due to the generosity of the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles, the first of such research projects, a market study of the Jewish community in Greater Los Angeles is now available. This study, lead by prominent sociologist of North American Jewry, Dr. Steven M. Cohen, investigated motivating factors behind parents' decisions to send their children to Jewish summer camp.
