The Foundation for Jewish Camp challenges movements, independent camps, and new organizations to grow capacity with market understanding. We are accomplishing this task by increasing the capacity of current camps and supporting the development of new Jewish camp initiatives. Many camps are in need of physical plant upgrades and expansion. The Foundation for Jewish Camp envisions a significant number of new camps that will combine a quality Jewish program with a state-of-the-art specialty program to match or exceed the best in the overall camp field.
Aimed at assisting existing and nascent Jewish camps, FJC is working on the following programs:
- A pilot initiative with a major foundation, which offers interest free loans for camps interested in increasing their camper capacity and in ensuring their facilities stay market competitive.
- Through the generosity of The Picower Foundation FJC has hired a Director of New Camp Initiatives who is working as a consultant to new camps, supporting their efforts in building a sustainable formula for success. This service is provided at no charge to the participating camps.
