Find A Jewish Camp
Cornerstone Fellowship

The Cornerstone Fellowship, made possible by the generosity of the AVI CHAI Foundation, is a groundbreaking Jewish leadership training seminar built specifically for third year returning camp counselors at Jewish camp.

The Cornerstone Fellowship program enables Jewish camps to increase the Judaic effectiveness of their programs through retaining and training their third-year Jewish bunk counselors. By providing an incentive stipend and advanced professional development training to a camp's most valued third-year counselors, Jewish camps will continue to attract and grow their "Cornerstones" - their emerging Jewish leaders. Upon successful completion of the summer, participants will also be awarded a bonus of $500 over and above their salary.

Goal: To assist camps in developing structural and cultural change to:

  • Enhance the Jewish ambiance and programming at camps in keeping with individual camp missions and educational goals
  • Implement a mentoring program for first-year counselors to enable camps to support and retain this critical asset
  • Empower third-year bunk counselors to become leaders and role models and encourage ongoing engagement in the Jewish community

Methodology: The Cornerstone Fellowship consists of two main components:

  • Four-day training seminar in May
  • Implementation and guidance during camp.
