CAMPER PARENTS

The Campership Incentive Program (CIP) seeks to increase the number of campers benefiting from the transformative experience of Jewish overnight summer camp through providing financial incentives to first time campers. CIP, which operates in partnership with dozens of Jewish community federations, camps and camp movements across North America, provides up to $1,250 to first time campers who attend a nonprofit Jewish overnight camp for at least three consecutive weeks. Some communities also offer $750 to second time campers. Funded jointly by the Foundation for Jewish Camp and our program partners around the country, CIP is currently in its third year.

While each community partner has its own particular eligibility requirements, the general eligibility requirements that are adhered to by all partners are as follows:

  1. Campers must have never previously attended a nonprofit Jewish overnight camp for 3 consecutive weeks or longer before applying for the grant
  2. Campers must be attending a camp listed on the Foundation for Jewish Camp’s website (For a full listing of these camps, please visit the Find a Camp directory)
  3. Campers must be attending camp for at least 21 consecutive days

The Foundation for Jewish Camp is not administering these programs. All questions must be sent directly to the contact organization. For full eligibility details or questions about existing programs please visit the websites or email the contacts listed below.

Please note: Campers who have been accepted to the JWest Campership Program are NOT eligible for the Campership Incentive Program and vice versa.

COMMUNITY PROFESSIONALS

By offering financial incentives to campers' families, FJC drives higher enrollment in Jewish camps across North America.

FJC received a $15 million gift—the largest ever in the field of Jewish camping—for the purpose of creating incentive programs across North America to encourage parents to send their children to Jewish nonprofit camps.

With the support of this gift, FJC is working with local Jewish federations, synagogue movements, professionals, camps, funders and camping leaders to create new programs in local communities. The Campership Incentive Program will provide matching grants, one-to-one in the first year and receding thereafter, aimed at launching incentive programs that will then be supported by the community long-term. FJC will work closely with participating communities, sharing best practices and discussing methodology to maximize the reach and breadth of the program.

Communities with tuition inducements show increased enrollment at Jewish overnight camps and children receiving camper incentives will return to camp long after the incentive grant has concluded.

This program has some very specific goals and parameters.

  1. Only first-time campers are eligible. (Some communities may also opt for a returning campers program.)
  2. Minimum camp length of stay is three weeks.
  3. Incentive grants can only be used for the nonprofit overnight Jewish summer camps listed on the Foundation for Jewish Camp’s website. For a full listing of these camps, please visit the Find a Camp directory.
  4. This program is meant as an outreach program for children who do not receive an intensive Jewish experience during the year.

The Foundation for Jewish Camp is not administering these programs. All questions must be sent directly to the contact organization. For full details or questions about existing programs please visit the websites or email the contacts listed above.

For more information, or if you are interested in bringing the program to your local camp or community, please contact Tova Katz at tova@jewishcamp.org
