The Foundation for Jewish Camp…
Reaches new campers. FJC offers financial incentives for first-time campers in more than 30 communities across North America through the One Happy Camper program which includes sub-programs such as JWest and PJ Goes to Camp. Thousands of young Jews have gone to camp for the first time thanks to this innovative program.
Fosters future Jewish leaders. FJC has trained more than 1,600 college-aged counselors over the last nine years to help them engage campers, develop leadership skills, and build their own Jewish identities.
Promotes excellence and best practices. FJC’s professional development programs for all levels of camp leadership provide Jewish camps with a competitive advantage in the summer entertainment arena.
Promotes innovative experiential Jewish education. FJC promotes diverse and high quality experiential education at Jewish camps providing resources and information on the growing variety of opportunities available to the field. The Shuk, the first Jewish Camp Marketplace, is available during Leaders Assembly to provide information on some of the current exciting products and programs currently being offered to camps.
Empowers and grows the field of Jewish camp. FJC convenes camp professionals and lay leaders – as well as communal professionals and philanthropists – for Leaders Assembly, the only conference of its kind.
Increases understanding about the importance of Jewish camp. FJC conducts, collects, and disseminates research about the impact and importance of Jewish summer camp. Most recently, CAMP WORKS, proves the profound influence Jewish camp has on its alumni.
FJC looks towards the future, supporting its mission and vision with four areas of focus:
- Camper Acquisition: Growing Enrollment
- Program Excellence: Foster Retention
- Leadership Development: Ensure a Strong Future
- Community Engagement: Achieve Sustainability
The Foundation has outlined four priorities to support these areas of focus:
- Addressing Affordability
- Fostering Connections
- Increasing Awareness
- Creating Innovative Programming
Without a doubt, the Jewish camp experience is integral to building Jewish identity in today’s youth. So, whether you have experienced Jewish camp on your own or simply believe in the importance of Jewish continuity, your charitable donation to the Foundation for Jewish Camp will have a lasting impact.
